Bookstore After Hours Event

The Friends' Bookstore will have an additional bookcase of books for sale on Saturday, November 30th during the library's After Hours event (following the parade downtown-roughly 5:30pm).  There will be many very nice and clean gently used books - great for stocking stuffers this holiday!  Books are priced $3 for a hardback and $1 for a paperback.

Stop by the library to shop as well as enjoy some refreshments (sponsored by the Friends)!  The library will also be showing Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the Children's Department will be having Christmas Bingo.  We hope you can stop in!

GREAT JOB FRIENDS!

The 2013 Annual Book Sale was a HUGE success!  With so many books in the sale this year, President Sandy manned the sale for an additional 3 hours on October 23rd.  This brought in additional revenue and got more materials to good homes!  Thank you to all the Friends' volunteers, CPI volunteers, Central Kansas Library System employees, Great Bend Public Library employees, Barton Community College boys basketball team, the City of Great Bend and Sunflower Diversified Recycling for helping to make this our BEST Friends' sale yet!  In total we raised almost $5000!!!

2013 Annual Book Sale is coming!

Mark your calendars the 2013 Annual Book Sale is almost here!  Friends' memberships run October to September so be sure to renew yours so you can shop early!  Memberships are $10 for an individual or $20 for a family.  Here's the dates and times for the sale:

Friends' Members Shopping Day - Saturday, October 19th - 1 - 5 pm

Open to the general public:
Sunday, October 20th - 1 - 5 pm
Monday, October 21st - 12 - 8:30 pm
Tuesday, October 22nd - 10 am to 8:30 pm

Summer 2013 Update

In April the Friends voted to give the Children's Department a monetary gift which was combined with other grant funds to all the department to purchase some new furniture.

In May the Friends voted to purchase several slat wall fixtures for our newly installed slat wall end caps in the adult fiction and non-fiction areas of the libary.

If you have not been in in the library lately there have been many changes!  Stop by and see the new furniture int eh Children's Department, check out our new slat wall displays and the new Welcome Desk that is being installed (another project the Friends have contributed to financially).

At the April Annual Meeting of the Friends we had our election of officers.  A big THANK YOU to our past four officers agreeing to be nominated (and then elected) for another one year term.  If you see them out in the community, please say a nice "thank you" for the work they have done and the work they continue to do for the Friends!

National Library Week 2013 - Bookstore Sale

Great Bend Public Library Friends' Bookstore is having a sale!  Though it will not be as big as our annual Book Sale held in October, we will have more items than usual in the Bookstore for sale.  All items will be 1/2 price for 1 day only, Monday, April 15th from 12 - 8 pm.

Pricing:
Hardbacks - $1.50
Paperbacks/VHS/DVD - $.50
