November Art Show "Selected Art" by Rick Peters

    Selected Art by Rick Peter, Great Bend, will be on display through the month of November in the Fine Arts Room at the Great Bend Public Library.
    According to Rick, “In past years, much of my painting addressed memories of family and events during his childhood.  These paintings were not direct observations. They often came-off as "riddles" or ambiguous "snap shots." Some of these works explored my mother's struggles with physical and mental health, my father's dedication to accountability in all things and his boyhood observations.   I also explore "take-offs" of carnival sideshow banners. The banner format has recently made its way into my imaginary landscape painting experiments. Other recent (small) paintings take "snippets" of imagery from Sublime and Romantic landscape painting. The added human element suggests the effects of the passing of time, a "crossing over."
